The Power of One!

The Power of One

By: Stephanie Messineo

The movie, The Power of One, was a very intense movie. If I could describe the movie in a couple of words they would be sad, thrilling, and, eye-opening. The Power of One movie was sad for many different reasons. Some of the sad parts in the movie was when I found out that P.K’s (an English boy) mom died. Relating that, it was also sad because P.K had no parents anymore. The saddest part for me personally was when P.K’s only friend (a rooster) got killed by mean bullies. That was really sad for me because I love animals and it was extra sad because it was P.K’s best friend. Another sad part of the film was when P.K’s main love interest, Marie, died by getting hit in the head by a tool used by the police. I also didn’t like how Morgan Freedman’s character had to eat poop in front of everyone in the jail lot. The movie was also very thrilling. P.K’s boxing matches were very thrilling through out the movie. I liked when P.K had a boxing match against another community and they still all cheered for him when he won. The Power of One was also very eye-opening. This is because I saw what happened to Afrikaner’s and English people. I never knew that they didn’t like each other until I saw The Power of One. It was very inspiring to see P.K become so successful with his boxing since he had a very rough childhood. It was difficult to see how Marie and P.K could be together. The Power of One reminds me a lot of Hotel Rwanda because both films are sad, thrilling, and eye-opening.
